performing their fantastic operatic
adaptation of Hansel and Gretel
The first of 2 doors this year that will be hosted at St Eanswythe’s Church. We’re very lucky to be able to host performances in such a beautifully historic building, and we hope to welcome you all to St Eanswythes again on Christmas Eve.
So what was behind the door then? Well it’s been a while since we brought you an opera so we thought in 2023 it should be a priority.
This evening we watched the wonderful Marginalia performing their fantastic operatic adaptation of Hansel and Gretel, using extracts from Engelbert Humperdincks 1892 version of Hansel and Gretel.
This well known tale had us gripped from the very beginning when the siblings are arguing over their chores, all the way to the end when they overthrow the evil witch and find their way home.
It was impossible to ignore how enthralled all the little ones in the audience were!
