Ah Christmas Eve finally upon us!
It’s tradition for us to head on down to St Eanswythes’ Church up by The Bayle and that’s exactly where we wandered. Over the years we’ve noticed our Christmas Eve door become the flagship evening for friends old and new to meet up, exchange presents and wish each other Merry Christmas. We feel incredibly lucky to witness it and to feel like we’ve been a part of bringing people together throughout the long winter.
The hibernation season can feel lonely and never-ending, full of juxtaposition when our bodies wish for us to rest but our timetables and calendars beg us to keep busy and stay social… We hope that the Advent Calendar helps to ease some of the stress and bring some joy and fun to what can seem like a difficult month to navigate.
Tonight’s door was a wondrous, joyful evening. Led by Alice Phelps a choir was put together this very afternoon, with no longer than an hour or 2 to practice and rehearse; they began the evening by singing a beautiful rendition of White Christmas.
After a few more carols (A big thank you for the 12 days of JimJam!) we all came together to sing Jingle Bells. How absolutely wonderful to look out into the grounds of the church and see hundreds of you singing along, hugging, and wishing each other a Merry Christmas.
This evening we were based at St Eanswythes Church and were collecting for The Rainbow Centre.
A special thanks this evening goes to The St Eanswythes Parish, Alice Phelps and our community choir.
Thanks also to everyone who has helped this years advent calendar, volunteers, photographers, technicians, charities, performers and venues.
A big thanks must also go to our wonderful audience, whether you’ve attended 1 door or all 24, or perhaps if you’ve watched a livestream, liked an instagram post or come to a workshop; we do this every year and couldn’t continue without you. Thank you all and merry Christmas.
