Door 10 took us over to another new venue, The Community Fridge at Wood Avenue Library. As the door opened we were welcomed in to watch an intergenerational, cross-cultural performance!
Members of the local Ukrainian community had joined together to choreograph some traditional Ukrainian dances, performed by some exceptional young dancers. The mums of the dancers had also formed a choir! They sang traditional festive songs from Ukraine which created a wonderful atmosphere of learning and togetherness. The highlights were definitely the younger members of the audience joining the children on stage to dance and of course the emotional ending where everyone sang Hallelujah together.
It was emotional but gloriously joyous.
As we left we were treated to home-made Ukrainian cakes and cookies, lovingly baked by the participants. The Community Fridge also supplied us with mince pies, sweets & chocolates!
