This evening we ventured into Folkestone Town centre to pay a visit to the brand new South Kent Mind Shop. This venue has only been open for a few weeks and they’ve done a fantastic job of making it wonderfully beautiful and festive inside.
As we were waiting for the door to open there were a few inklings as to what might lay in store for us as some joyful South Kent Mind elves were handing out song sheets.
Christmassy tunes seemed to be on the menu this evening such as Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and White Christmas and as the door opened we certainly weren’t disappointed.
We were greeted by a live band playing Last Christmas as we entered the lovely new space; the song was being played by none other than the South Kent Mind Music Group. The group took part in several workshops over the past few months with the incredibly talented Peter Morton where they experimented with bits and pieces of ‘rubbish’ to create music.
This helped inspire them to write and perform an original song about the value of friendship and togetherness.
The evening was a wonderful celebration of community and a reminder of the importance of kindness. We commend the bravery of our performers tonight for sharing their creativity and talent and thank you to everyone for bringing us together for a jolly sing song!
