So tonight the Folkestone Living Advent Calendar came to Sandgate for the first time – and what a night it was!
It was a night of song and dance and laughter. Of community, crossing divides, warmth and welcome. To us, it felt like the very essence of what we are aiming to provide.
Here’s our recipe:
Ingredients
A charismatic leader in the person of vocalist, composer, performer and all round star, Randolph Matthews who can inspire and improvise music out of a heart beat.
A group of residents from Napier Barracks mostly from Iran with a willingness to share their love of singing and dancing – and it turned out, quite by chance, of keyboard skills, too.
An audience who were up for giving it a go and joining in to become part of this wonderful, joyous performance
Method: Mix altogether in the Chichester Memorial Hall.
The result:
A Party! A wild, warm, wonderful moment when we could forget the troubles of the world and come together in song and dance in Sandgate!
